Color is a beautiful, powerful, and wonderful design element. Masterpieces of color composition can be seen in nature, paintings, buildings, and interiors. Color is inherent in all of the materials we use to design and create every kind of building; from skyscrapers to private homes, and their interiors.
Designing with Color: Techniques & Inspiration focuses on strengthening your skills of visual color mixing; color matching; and creating successful, appropriate color palettes. Emphasis is placed on referencing precedents—including images in books—physical material samples, buildings, and interiors.
Techniques include observational sketching in color, with watercolor and color matching exercises using gouache.
Visits will be made to the Morgan Library and the New York Public Library.
